VPLT - The Professional Lighting and Sound Association of Germany

is the organisation which represents the leading manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and equipment-rental companies within Germany’s professional lighting and sound industry.


The association´s aims

  • To oversee education and training 
  • To undertake press and public relations work
  • To compile working guidelines and standard procedures
  • To keep members informed about technological innovation 
  • To represent the industry at trade fairs and in the media
  • To establish and cultivate contacts with official offices and agencies
  • To act as the industry’s representative and to be its point of contact

VPLT represents the collective interests of its members vis-à-vis official agencies, public offices, institutions and ministries.

At the same time, VPLT is the first point of contact for public offices or courts of law when it comes to answering specialist questions or giving professional opinion on matters involving light, sound and event technology.

VPLT members are invited to participate in and shape the association’s activities. More than one third of all members contribute regularly to our working groups.

What do the VPLT members do?

VPLT members work in all fields in which professional lighting and sound equipment is required. This includes planning, developing, designing, manufacturing, distributing, selling, installing and hiring out professional lighting and sound products. VPLT’s members provide lighting and sound for:

  • theatres, opera houses, civic hall
  • TV, films, shows, advertisin
  • exhibitions, product launche
  • restaurants, hotels, discotheque
  • live music performances of all kind
  • public and office buildings, from airports to banks,
  • from football stadiums to shopping centres, boutiques etc
  • youth centres, mobile discos, touring theatres, and lots more

How can the VPLT help me?

In order to become a member of VPLT, a company must be nominated by two companies which are already members. Additionally, the applying company’s references are checked and it is scrutinised with regard to its standards and expertise.

In this way you as a customer can be sure you will be working with reliable and experienced companies.

In addition, an association such as VPLT naturally has access to information which may not be generally available, as well as having knowledge and contacts which others do not have. We try to put these advantages to use for the benefit of individuals and companies, and there are various ways in which we can do that.

Our Partners

In this age of globalisation international contacts are becoming increasingly important. In the "Pro Light & Sound Industry" there are a number of standards, such as DMX, which are used throughout the world.
As a founder-member of the WorldETF (World Entertainment Technology Federation), VPLT maintains the world-wide contacts which are necessary to ensure that its members have access to the latest information and to also ensure that the interests of its members are represented world-wide. VPLT cooperates closely with its sister organisations on an international basis.
